August 17th, 2008

Hello everyone,

There a couple things to report from the WATSON camp. First, we have a last minute show addition. We'll be playing at The 400 Bar in Minneapolis on Wednesday August 27th. This is going to be a stripped down, acoustic show and Jon will be performing some of his new solo songs with accompaniment from the Brians.

Second, we have added more media to the website. First, you'll notice the music player at the top of the site. You can now listen to any track from our latest album, All I Want You To Know, while surfing through watsontheband.com. We've also added a lot of new photos and a new photo player - it's faster and more compact than our previous photo viewer and we think it's pretty darn cool.

We've been busy working on new songs and enjoying some time off. We'll keep you posted on any new shows, and maybe we'll have a few surprise recordings available later this year!!

June 17th 2008

Attention WATSON fans: our show for the Battle of the Bands has been rescheduled. We will now be playing on THURSDAY JUNE 26th at the FINE LINE. We go on at 9pm, and the cover is $5. Please update your calendars so you don't miss this show :)

We have a 35 minute set, so it's going to be crammed full of watson goodness...expect some oldies and some new tracks, and for sure a lot of energy! We'd love to see the front rows packed with watson fans, so check out the site later this week for all the details on the show.

Also, the new album, All I Want You To Know, is now up on iTunes!!! check out this link:

We recently found out that we've been accepted for this year's Battle of the Bands for the Basilica Block Party!!! This is a very exciting opportunity for us, and we're pumped...but we can't do this without you. That's right, the judges in the first round of the battle of the bands are you, the fans. With that said, we'll be playing our first round show on Thursday June 12th at the Main Street Bar in Hopkins. We go on at 9:30 and it's a 21+ show with a $4 cover. We have a 45 minute set and we're pulling out our A game for this - expect to hear all your favorite watson tunes along with some classic covers.

Also, thank you to everyone who came out and rocked with us at our CD Release show. It was a great time and we had a blast. For those of you who didn't pick up a CD yet, be sure to ask us at the next live show, at work, or even buy it online. We'll be on iTunes by the end of the month!!

HUGE NEWS!!!  We have confirmed the night for our CD release show!  Mark your calendars for Friday May 9th, because that's when watson will be debuting their brand new album, All I Want You To Know.  The CD is a collection of 11 tracks, ranging from the classic rock inspired "Never Gonna Let You Go", to the yet to be heard piano/guitar tune "Up In Smoke".  We're putting the finishing touches on the album this week, and we're incredibly excited to let you all hear it.  The album will be available at the May 9th show for the low, low price of $5!!!

And if you can't wait until May to get a dose of watson, then be sure to catch us April 26th at the Terminal in NE Minneapoils

March 23rd, 2008
Our new album is coming along, and we just finished recording the last 2 songs.  We're now in the process of adding in a couple more elements to some songs, and will be mixing all songs in the coming weeks.  If all things go well, we'll have a new track on the website for you in a couple weeks...a bit of a sneak preview to the new album for all the fans out there :)

And we have another show coming up soon.  We'll be taking our first crack at Club Underground on Saturday March 29.  We're sharing the stage with good friends Capital Sons, and will kick off some solid rock music at 9pm.  For more info, check out the Shows page.

February 12th, 2008
Lots of updates from the watson camp.  First, 2 new shows have been added!  Check out the Shows section for the latest venues we'll be tearing up.  The next target in our sites is the Fine Line on Leap Day, Friday Feb 29th.  We'll be playing a lot of new material, and will be sharing the stage with some new bands, so it's bound to be electric.

We've also been having a grand old time recording our upcoming album (still untitled).  We've laid down 9 tracks and working on a few more.  If anyone has been wanting to get the band a gift but haven't had a good idea of something we'd all enjoy, might we suggest space heaters or mittens?  Although we love rehearsing and recording in Mondl's basement, it does get cold down there when it's -10 outside and there's no heat in the basement.  We've survived thus far, and the music hasn't suffered.

We're looking forward to getting back on stage and playing for you all...can't wait to see you on the 29th!

January 6th, 2008
Happy New Year from watson!  We've got big plans for 2008, and we're already underway on our biggest endeavor yet.  Last week we completed the finishing touches on our recording studio.  That's right, the boys of watson have constructed their own recording studio in our rehearsal space.  Pictures of the new setup will be online in the next weks.

So what does this mean for all the fans out there?  Well as we work towards completing our second album, we will post clips of songs, stories and notes from recording, and a slew of new pictures.  The new album will be out this spring and will have a slate of songs ranging from tunes you've known for the past year, plus brand new tunes that are only a few months old.  We're very excited to get into the studio and lay down a lot of tracks in the next months.

The PHOTOS section has been updated with shots from several live shows from the end of 2007.

We're also in the process of booking upcoming shows so check back for updates on 2008 shows.

October 21st, 2007
First things first...a new show has been booked!  We'll be tearing up the stage at our old stomping grounds, the Uptown Bar, on 11.15.2007.  We take the stage at 9pm followed by Consolation Champ and The Capital Sons.  It's been awhile since we've had a show, so we're all amped to get on stage again.  And to make it extra special, we will be debuting a slew of new songs that we've been hashing out over the past months.  The new songs range from bluesy to sonic and everywhere in between.  So come on out on the 15th for some cheap drinks, free rock & roll, and some brand new watson.
August 20th, 2007
As we gear up for our next show at the Fine Line, we thought it would be a good idea to share a little teaser with you all.  The band has some new tricks in the works, and we're dusting off a few old ones too.  The Fine Line show is set to be a rip-roaring, hip-shaking, pulse-pounding, toe-tapping, cliché spouting great time.  There is buzz of a new t-shirt design from local designer and band friend Seth Foy.  We're also working on a host of new material, many songs expanding the horizon of the watson musical landscape.

Also, we've been watching a lot of HGTV and Extreme Home Makeover and plan to do some big improvements to our rehearsal space in Mondl's basement.  I'm sure the neighbors will enjoy our soundproofing efforts.

If you still need a ticket to the Fine Line show contact one of the band members and we'll hook you up.  Hope to see you all their on Friday the 31st!!

July 28, 2007
Some new shows have been added (another Friday night at the Fine Line at the end of August).  We've been working hard for our first county fair performance, and we're hoping we come away with a blue ribbon.
June 1, 2007
We've added some new features to the site!  First off, we have video clips available.  Check out the albums page (under songs) and go to the Fine Line DVD/CD.  You can watch 3 live performances from our last show at the Fine Line.  Secondly, we've added some new shows.  We'll be making our debut at the 7th St Entry on Thursday July 12th.  This will be a rocking show...more details to follow.

And be sure to vote for us in the Lollapalooza Last Band Standing competition.  Go to:

http://lollapalooza.mp3.com/feature/2007lollapalooza/?band=WATSON-THE-BAND

Follow the instructions and cast your vote for us.  It only takes a minute, and it's for a good cause :)

May 14, 2007

A new show has been added...watson will be playing the Washington County Fair on August 2nd!  More details will be added to the WCF website in the near future.  For those of you who want a dose of watson before that, check us out this Thursday at Legends or in June at The Uptown.  We've got some new tunes brewing, and you're likely to hear them in the next couple months.

Also we've added some new photos in the live section.  Check out the new shots from our recent shows at The Uptown and The Varsity.

April 18, 2007

First things first, new shows have been added.  Check out the Shows section on the site for shows in April & May (June and July are being solidified as we speak).  Your next chance to catch watson is Thursday April 26th at The Uptown with Capital Sons and The Blue Mollies...and it's free!

April 2, 2007
Watson will be at The Fine Line next Friday with Pat McCurdy.  Music starts at 9pm and we have a limited number of free tickets.  If you're 100%, absolutely sure that you're coming, talk to the band and we'll get you a ticket.  If you can't get your hands on a free ticket, you can still get in for $8 at the door.

And if you can't make the Friday show, we'll be at The Uptown Bar on Thursday August 26.  Music starts at 9pm with watson, and will continue after that with The Blue Mollies and another band TBD at this point.

January 29th, 2007

Watson is hitting the road for our first road trip!  We have shows set in Chicago and Milwaukee on March 2nd & March 3rd.  We'll be playing the Elbo Room in Chicago and The Guitar Bar in Milwaukee.  All the details can be found on the Shows page.  So if you've been meaning to go to Chicago or Milwaukee grab a plane ticket or hop in your car...or have friends that you think would like our style, be sure to spread the word.

January 9th, 2007

Welcome to 2007!  We have some big, BIG news to share with you all.  What better way to start off the year than with the fantastic news that bass player Adam Vander Poel is now engaged!  That's right folks, Adam and now finance Lori are getting married...a happy day for many, but a sad day for those watson fans with eyes for Adam.  Sorry ladies, he's off the market.  We all wish Adam and Lori the best!!

And in other news, watson has 2 shows lined up for January.  The first comes on Friday Jan 19th at the Acadia and marks the first full band acoustic show in the history of watson.  The show will be a blend of classic watson and some new tunes, rearranged with an acoustic touch.  Cover is $5 and watson will be joined by good friends Consolation Champ and The Northern Roots.  This is an all ages show, so everyone is welcome.

The second show of the month is Thursday, Jan 25th at The Uptown.  Watson hits the stage at 9:30pm followed by the Blue Mollies and then The Capitol Sons...two rocking bands that are sure to tear up the stage.  This is a FREE show!!!  For more details on the show, check out the shows page.  We hope to see you at one or both of the shows this month!

Here's to a great 2007!!!

November 15th, 2006

Hello friends.  We've added a couple new shows to our docket...both are in December.  One will be at the Fine Line, opening for Pat McCurdy.  The show is set for Saturday, December 9th, with watson hitting the stage at 9pm and Pat McCurdy rocking around 10pm.  It should be a great show, as we plan to play the most rocking set in watson history...we're going to cram a lot of music into 45 minutes!

We're also fully up and running on iTunes!!  So if you pop your copy of Been Here Before into your computer, iTunes will pull in all the info for you...or you can go ahead and download the songs direct from the site.  And if you want to purchase a good old fashion copy of the album online, head on over to www.cdbaby.com/watsonband for details.

October 21st, 2006

Yet another free show next week...we'll be playing at The Uptown Bar & Cafe (right across the street from Calhoun Square in the Uptown area of Minneapolis).  Music starts at 9:30pm with The Blue Mollies and then we take the stage at 10:30pm.  After that, stick around for Consolation Champ at 11:30pm and The Crime Novels at 12:30pm.  It's going to be a great night of local music, and once again, this is a FREE show!!  We have a couple tricks & treats up our sleeves, so you won't want to miss this one.

NEW UPDATE!!! - for those of you having issues with the links at the top of the page, click here for a site map of the website.

WOW!!!!!  That's all we can say.  That and thank you, thank you, thank you.  Last Friday's CD release was a rousing success for the band.  There is no better way to celebrate the release of our CD than with a couple hundred of our friends.  We were completely blown away with the turn out, and even more grateful for the incredible energy you all brought.  It's a feeling that is impossible to describe, yet will stay with us forever.  So once again, thank you to everyone who came out.  Also, we saw a lot of people having fun with their cameras, so if you captured any fun moments you want to share (the band on stage, you with the band, or just you rocking out) please, please, please send them to us and we will post them in the photo section.  Just send an email to watson@watsontheband.com we'll even give you photographering credit on the page (I know that's not a word but it sounded so fun in my head).

For those of you who missed the show, you'll have a chance to catch the boys of watson on October 6th at Station 4 in St. Paul.  We will hit the stage at 9:45 and be followed by local musicians and friends Capitol Sons (stick around for these guys, they have a great sound).  And in true watson form, this is a FREE SHOW!!!  Click here for free tickets...otherwise you'll have to pay $5 to get in.  We'll have CDs on sale at the show in case you haven't had the chance to pick one up yet

We hope to see you out in St. Paul next week!  oh, and I'm supposed to give my sister, Tracy Samonds, proofreader/greatest sister ever credit for her work proofing the site.  So if there are any typo-s on the site, blame her.

The new website is up and running!  Have fun exploring the new sections and content.  Hopefully this version is easy to navigate for everyone.

On the musical front, the CD Release show is fast approaching.  Watson will be releasing their first full length studio album, Been Here Before, on September 22nd at the Fine Line.  This is bound to be a memorable show since fellow local musicians/friends/roommates Consolation Champ will also be releasing their first album, The Invitational, the same night!  Music will start at 9:30pm with Wheat Farm, then watson takes the stage at 10:15 to unveil their new album.  At 11:30, local artists The Exchange will rock out, and then Consolation Champ will hit the stage at 12:15am.  It's going to be a long night of rock and roll and is bound to go down in the history books.

This will be the first time the album will be available for purchase, and we hope to see you all there!

A lot of new developments to report...where to start?!?!

We have some new shows lined up for the coming months.  First and foremost is another show at the Fine Line.  We will be playing on Tuesday, August 8th at 9pm.  Best of all, this is a FREE SHOW!  I can't even remember the last time we made you pay to hear us play :)  Tickets can be found right here, or just ask one of the band members for a ticket.  We hope to see a lot of you at the show (it's our last big one until September).

The other big news is that we're nearing the completion of our first studio album with the full band.  The recording is complete, the art is being finalized and it will be pressed and ready to go before you know it.  Keep your eyes and ears open for info on a CD release party this September.  In fact, the more people we get to show up on August 8th the better, because that will help us secure a release party at the Fine Line in September...so bring your friends and family on the 8th.

That's all we have for now...expect to see some new elements on the website soon...new photos, CD information, merchandise and who knows what else.

your friends,

watson

May 20th, 2006

Our new look is here (sort of).  In an effort to spice up the website, we are redesigning the look.  The overall flow and content haven't changed much...yet...but we will be adding more as we head into the studio.

On the musical front, we have been in the studio for the past few weeks and only have a few more days until we put the final touches on our first studio album.  Be on the lookout for CD Release Party news!!  The album is set to drop sometime in September

AND...We have a special show for you all in June.  On Monday, June 12th, watson will be playing the Fine Line in downtown Minneapolis.  This is a FREE SHOW!!  Just ask one of the band members for a ticket, or print off one by clicking here.  Bring as many people as you can, because the more people we draw, the better chance we have of playing a weekend gig there.  If you haven't been to the Fine Line, then you're in for a treat.  The sound is awesome, there is plenty of seating, a wide open dance floor, and $3.50 MGD & Highlife all night.  Plus, there is a coupon on the back of the tickets for $$ of your first brew!

And for you myspace junkies, add us at www.myspace.com/watsontheband.

watson

March 26th, 2006:

2 down, 1 to go!!  A HUGE thank you to everyone who made it to one or both of our shows last weekend.  And a friendly reminder that we have 1 more show this month...Thursday night at The Uptown Bar in Minneapolis.  This is a FREE show, and we'll start at 11:30.  The band is planning on patronizing some local establishments around the Uptown area, so get a hold of one of us for your chance to pre-show party with the band!  Normally you have to win some sort of raffle or sweepstake for such a wondrous treat.  So call in sick the next morning and come rock out with watson...especially since this will be our last show for awhile.  April and May will be dedicated to our new record which will be available late summer/early fall.  We'll keep you posted on the progress once we get into the studio.

Also, the Photos section has been updated with some good shots of us from Station 4...they're not exactly performance pictures, but they are entertaining none the less.  And for the record, it was a Vander Poel/Weber victory on Saturday, evening the overall record to 1-1.  The next Station 4 show is bound to start with a heated dome hockey rubber match.

One more also...if you're looking to hear some fresh new music, check out www.mindsightmusic.com.  We played with these guys last night and they have a great sound.  Hopefully there will be another watson/Mindsight show in the cards.

As always, we hope to see you at the next show...god bless, and happy painting.

your friends,

watson

March 16th, 2006:

It's been awhile, but we finally have some new news to report.  The Shows page has been updated with 3 exciting new shows.  We will be performing at Decoy's in Hopkins next Friday, March 24th with Consolation Champ (the band formerly known as John Richards & the French Canadiens).  Music starts at 9:30pm with watson kicking things off.  There will be a $5 cover, but it's well worth it...at least I think so.  Then on Saturday, March 25th, watson will storm St. Paul's Station 4.  We hit the stage at 9pm sharp and best of all, this show is FREE if you bring along your tickets.  Click Here for FREE Tickets!  And then on Thursday, March 30th we will take on the second half of the Twin Cities with yet another free show at The Uptown Bar in Minneapolis.  This show will be extra special because it is Adam's birthday!!  So come to the show, buy him a shot, and see if he can still manage to play bass on all the songs ;)

There is also some more good news, and some bad news.  The good news is that we have booked studio time and will be recording a full length LP in early May.  The bad news is that our March 30th show will be the last until May.  We're going to take April to focus on songwriting, and fine tuning our current songs to deliver a stellar album in May.  We realize this is crushing news for most of you, so you'll have to attend all 3 of our shows to get your watson fill for the next couple months.

We hope to see all of you at one, or many of the upcoming shows.

your friends,

watson

January 29th, 2006:

Watson is back at it this week!  We have a show scheduled for this Friday, Feb 3rd, at Decoy's in Hopkins.  We will be sharing the bill with  good friends John Richards & the French Canadiens and Superhawk.  Watson will hit the stage at 9:30, followed by jr&tfc, and then Superhawk will close out the night.  There is a $4 cover, and plenty of beverages and food for all.  Plus, there's a good chance we'll be playing some new songs :)

Hope to see you on Friday!!!

your friends,

watson

January 3rd, 2006:

Welcome to 2006 everyone!!  What a big year 2005 was for watson.  We saw the addition of a new member (welcome aboard AVP!), some very successful shows, 2 live CDs, and many, many new friends.  2006 shows no signs of slowing down.  We have a show lined up this Friday, January 6th at Decoy's in Hopkins.  This will be a stellar show with John Richards & the French Canadiens, as well as the first appearance of a new group: Super Hot.  Music starts at 9pm and there will be free beer from 9-10pm...that's right, FREE BEER (Miller Lite tap) from 9-10pm.  And how wonderful is it that watson will be on stage from 9-10pm?!  If you ask me, there's not many things that are better than live tunes and free beer.

We hope to see you out at our first show in '06!!

your friends,

watson

December 26th, 2005:

Happy Holidays watson friends!!  We all hope that you had a tremendous Christmas and/or are enjoying your Hanukah.  For those of you that have the entire week off work (lucky jerks), or will be back at the grind and looking for some diversions, we have a special treat for you.  We have a FREE show this Thursday at the Uptown Bar & Cafe.  We will be performing at 9:30pm sharp, so be sure to get there early and stake your claim on a front row seat.  We are sharing the bill with 2 other local bands, Desiradi, and Desdemona...so it should be a great night for all.

Also, a big thank you to our photographer team for submitting so many great new pictures.  I'm working on getting those on the website, and we should hopefully have them up in now time.

Hope to see you all on Thursday...Happy New Year!!

your friends,

watson

December 6th, 2005:

Lots of news to report!!  First off, we have added some new pictures from our big Thanksgiving bash at Decoy's.  For those that missed the show, it was a fantastic send off to brother Jonathan.  Check out the Photos to see how intense his singing truly is.  Those lucky enough to be there witnessed the first (and potentially only) performance of Jonny Football Hero & The KQ Classics.  A round of applause for John Richards & the French Canadiens for letting us play with them.

We have added 2 new shows to the line up too.  First, we will be back at Legend's Bar on Thursday, December 15th.  Good friend Seth Foy will be sharing the spotlight with us as we crank out a night full of tunes.  Music starts at 9:30pm and will run until 1:00am.  As always with Legends shows, this a free event for all of you that are 21+.

The second show is a big one!  We'll be at The Uptown Bar and Cafe in Minneapolis on Thursday, December 29th.  We are sharing the bill with 2 other local bands: Desiradi, and Desdemona.  watson will be on first at 9:30pm sharp.  And since you'll be spending all your hard earned dollars on gifts for the band, this will be yet another free show!

There's also a new watson CD available - Live @ Harvey's.  A huge thank you to Matt Blum for recording and mastering the CD for us...it sounds great!  You can pick up your copy at the next watson show.

So merry Christmas, happy Chanukah, joyous Kwanza, and a blessed Arbor Day from all the band!

Be safe, and we hope to see you at some shows soon :)

November 22nd, 2005:

Gobble Gobble.  Thanksgiving day is fast approaching, and what better way to kick start the weekend than with another live show by watson?!  We will be performing at Decoy's Bar & Grill in Downtown Hopkins, with John Richards & the French Canadiens, and a brand new super group...Jonny Football Hero.  Music will start @ 9:30pm and continue until 1:30am.  watson will be the first group to take the stage, so don't be late!

We also want to extend a HUGE thank you to all of you that came out to support us last Friday at Station 4.  We were blown away by the great turnout, and hope you all enjoyed the show...I know we did!

November 8th, 2005:

A HUGE thank you to all of you that have ventured out to our recent shows.  As a special thank you, we have posted a slew of new pictures on the site.  Check out The Photos section for all new updates from our Halloween show at Legends.  We've also added a special section of photos dedicated to our great friend and fellow local musician Seth Foy.

And for those of you who attended our show at Harvey's, be on the lookout for a live recording coming soon.  Also a big thank you to Matt Blum for letting us play with him that night, and recording all the magic.  For more info on Matt and his recording biz, check out his site at www.mattblum.com or www.bigdipperproductions.net.

One last update, the time for our upcoming show at Station 4 has been set.  We will take the stage at 9pm, followed by 3 other local bands.  The FREE TICKETS are now available!!  There's also a special treat in store for this show, as we will award one lucky fan the opportunity to introduce the band to the crowd!

Hope to see you all soon.

October 4th, 2005:

Guess what...we've added another show for your listening pleasure!  Watson will be taking Harvey's Bar by storm in early November, thanks to band friend Matt Blum.  We'll give you more details as we get closer to the shows.

For those of you in dire need of a watson rock-out, our next show is Thursday, October 27th at Legends Bar.  We will be taking the time before this show to work on some new material - both originals and covers.

Also, a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to drummer Brian Mondl, who celebrates his exit from the womb on October 15th...eat a big piece of cake for Mondl that weekend.

peace,

watson

September 18th, 2005:

We're back at it again...watson will be at Legend's Bar on Thursday Sept 29th with good friend Seth Foy.  We're working a lot of new songs (both originals and covers) so it will be a fun ride for all.  We've also landed some shows this fall in October and November, so we'll keep you posted with all those details.

For those of you who want to relive our Station 4 performance, we just added a ton of pictures from the show...check out the Photos section to see all the fun pictures.  A HUGE thank you to Seth Foy for taking all of the wonderful pictures.

NEW UPDATE!!!! - click here to get free tickets to this Friday's show at Station 4

Thanks to all of those who ventured out to O'Gara's in St. Paul last Thursday.  It was a great show, and we enjoyed seeing all of you there.  Be sure to check out the websites of the other bands that night: Motion Pilots and Blue Shift.  Plus we added new pictures from the show...check them out here.

There are some new shows listed in the Tour section...we are performing this Friday, Sept 9th at Station 4 with John Richards & the French Canadiens.  We're the first act to go on, so be sure to get there early.  There have been rumblings that we'll either have comp tickets or a comp list, so drop us a line if you're going to be at the show.  We also have another show lined up at Legends on Sept 29th with Mr. Seth Foy.  There's a good chance we'll be debuting some new songs at this show, so you can't afford to miss it!

Happy Labor Day from your friends,

watson

August 21st, 2005:

A sad day for Minneapolis music fans.  Last night, a fantastic local group, the Rakes, called it quits.  For those of you who missed the show, you truly missed MN rock history.  It's even harder for watson because our drummer, Brian Mondl, was/is a member of the Rakes.  We're sad to see the guys hang up their six strings.

On another note, watson has set up some more shows in September!  We will be playing Thursday, Sept 1 at O'Gara's in St Paul with Blue Shift and others.  More details on that show to come.  We felt like giving St. Paul even more love with another show there on Friday, Sept 9th.  Watson will be performing with good friends John Richard & the French Canadiens at Station 4.  Last I heard this was a free show, so you can't go wrong with that!  For more info on the shows, check out the Tour section.

That's all we have for now...we've got some new songs brewing, a few new covers for you to enjoy, and some choreographed dances moves too...that last part might not be 100% true...actually it's 100% false.

Hope to see you at a show soon,

watson

July 2nd, 2005:

Lots of new news to report with the band!  Tomorrow marks a turning point for the band...drummer Brian Mondl will be wed to rabid watson fan Amie Roberts.  Mondl will be the first and only married member of the watson crew.  A sad day for the single ladies out there hoping to grab themselves a piece of Mondl love, but a very happy day for Mondl and Amie.  We wish them the best of luck (hopefully the new ring on Mondl's left hand won't mess with his drumming).  This also means that any fan lust will now have to be directed to Jon or Brian (Weber that is)...whether you're a gorgeous young lass, or a rather inebriated 35 year old man with the dance moves of a seasoned gigolo (it's happened before).

We've also added a new show to the list...Thursday July 21st at Legend's.  We'll be performing with Seth Foy again, and like all previous Legend's shows, this is a FREE EVENT!!!  So plan a happy hour after work, and then come on down to Legend's.

We're also in the process of recruiting a new bass player!!  Hopefully we'll be able to get him up and running for the show on the 21st...more to come on that later.

And finally, I'm in the process of redesigning the website...so if you swing by and notice things aren't quite working, please bare with us (or is it bear with us?)...either way, it should be pretty painless.

Our new emails are up and running, so drop us a line if you have any comments, suggestions, love poems, or songs you want us to play.

Peace,

watson

Look out world wide web...here comes watson!

I've finally decided to stop being cheap, and pony up the $5 to register an actual domain name for the band.  It's official...you can now find us at www.watsontheband.com

This is great news for all of you...no more pop-ups, no more weirdo side banners, no more lag when trying to download, and a lot more content to sooth the legions of rabid fans out there...or our parents.  I'm not sure who's really looking at this site.

Now that we have more space, we're taking suggestions on what to add.  Have a favorite song you'd like us to post?  Let us know!  Have you taken some pictures of the band that you want to share?  Send them on over!  Think that guitar/harmonica player with the longer hair is hot and want to see more pictures of him?...well you might want to seek counseling, but we'll make a fan page just for you!

Keep checking back for updates on the band, new shows, and our upcoming new LP.

Peace.

Watson gives back

It has always been watson's intention to give back to the community.  This weekend, they accomplished just that.  For those of you who missed the show this Sunday at the Acadia, it marked what might be a first in rock n' roll history.  The show started wonderfully with a great set by Mike Mitchell and his friends (aka the Band With No Name).  They played a tight set and started the Sunday show off to a great start.  When watson took the stage, a rumor started to circulate through the crowd, and eventually made its way to the band.  One of the fans in the audience was going to receive extra credit for her band class by watching the band.  That's right...watson shows can earn you extra credit.  The you fan in the crowd meticulously noted the set list, and took notes to share with her class.  Jon Gotreau of watson even went one step further...he gave her the actual set list from the show, and autographed it for her.  Lets hope that the set list makes it to the band teacher, and not on eBay.

December 18th, 2004:

Happy Holidays from watson!  We have big news to share with you all.  2 new shows have been added!!  Check out The Tour section for exact dates, locations and times.  Also, our show December 27th at the Acadia is a special acoustic performance featuring the original watson lineup.  That's right!  Chris Mitchell is back in MN, and his main objective is to rock.  The original trio will be dusting off some classic material for a trip down memory lane.  Be sure to check out the show, as we will be playing with one of our favorite local musicians and friends, John Richards.

November 28th, 2004:

More shows!!!  As a special holiday treat to all the watson fans, two shows have been added.  Check out the Tour page for details.  And, since all of you fans have landed on Santa's nice list this year, we have an added bonus for you...a watson show featuring the original lineup!  That's right, guitar face himself, Chris Mitchell, will be back with the watson boys on December 27th.

October 6th, 2004:

Another new show added!!  Watson will be playing with Special Guest Seth Foy.  This is very exciting because it marks Seth's debut show with the band, and the beginning of his return to live music.

August 19th, 2004:

New shows added...check out the Tour page.

June 27th, 2004:

Watson has added a new member...Brian Mondl!  Mondl is a phenomenal local musician, who currently performs with The Rakes.  Rehearsals have just started, and Mondl is destined to add a bold new dimension to watson.  Look for him to start appearing with the band at upcoming shows

June 20th, 2004:

The times they are a changin'...A lot of new things are developing on the watson forefront.  Guitarist, singer, and #1 guitarface in the world Chris Mitchell will be taking his sound to the East Coast.  Chris is leaving the tundra of MN for the warm, smiling faces of NY and other East Coast haunts.  We wish him the best of luck, and will collaborate with him during MN returns.

April 2nd, 2004:

Watson is getting back out on the town starting April 7th at the Acadia Cafe and then April 24th at the Uptown Dunn Brothers Coffee House.  It will be a little different look for Watson but the same great music. Check back for more updates...we hope to see you there.
